The Maryland International Day School
The Maryland International Day School
The Maryland International Day School (MIDS) is a private Pre-K through 8 school serving families in the Maryland area. The school needed a modern, intuitive website that prioritized campus tour bookings and supported a simplified admissions process.
The project included website design and development, booking and admissions integration, and strategic consulting to improve clarity and efficiency across the admissions experience.

Problem
Problem
The Maryland International Day School’s website no longer supported its primary admissions goal: encouraging prospective families to book a campus tour. Built on a platform the school found limiting, the site contained outdated content, unclear messaging, and generic imagery, while prioritizing applications too early in the user journey. Navigation complexity and missing features, such as a parent login and events calendar, further reduced usability. The project required designing a modern, conversion-focused website and migrating existing content and hosting infrastructure within a two-week timeline.

Sketches
Sketches
When sketching the initial wireframes, the focus was on establishing a clear user flow and defining content priorities across the site. These sketches served as a visual guide for both the client and myself, ensuring key actions—such as booking a tour and navigating admissions—were emphasized early. To support this process, I also created a page tree to map the depth of each section and validate that all content was relevant and appropriately structured before moving into design and development.

Design
Design
The Maryland International Day School website is designed to feel welcoming, clear, and purposeful, mirroring the school’s commitment to thoughtful education while reducing friction for prospective families. A restrained, harmonious color palette grounded in the school’s branding reinforces trust and approachability, allowing important actions—like booking a tour and learning about admissions pathways—to stand out without distraction.
Clean, legible typography and intentional spacing create a sense of calm and hierarchy across pages, guiding users through information in a logical, digestible way. Imagery of real students and campus life brings authenticity to the experience, fostering connection and context without overwhelming the interface. Consistent layout patterns and visual cues support both mobile and desktop users, ensuring clarity and continuity regardless of device.
Together, these design choices provide a friendly yet structured experience that prioritizes clarity, supports informed decision-making, and reflects the school’s mission—making the site both inviting to explore and reassuring to navigate.

Since launch, the website has attracted nearly 3,000 visitors, significantly increasing the school’s online visibility and search presence. The site has directly generated four completed applications, a meaningful outcome for a school with an enrollment of approximately 40 students prior to launch. While full admissions data is not accessible due to privacy constraints, the redesigned site has contributed to increased engagement and a measurable lift in inbound interest during the admissions cycle.
